Christmas Concert

We had a very enjoyable Christmas concert on 20th December. The show was opened with some lovely Christmas music with Michael Hurley and the senior pupils on the tin whistle. We then had some light entertainment with a special Christmas Jokes and Toy Show special produced by the pupils in their Green Screen studio.

The children then performed the nativity “A King is Born” with some beautiful singing and acting. It was fantastic to see so many parents, grandparents and all members of the Coolbock community for a lovely festive occasion. Well done to all the boys and girls for all their hard work in preparing for the concert.

Thanks Darren Carr for the brilliant photos!

Green Screen Studio

A behind the scenes peek at the pupils who have been hard at work in their green screen studio over the past few weeks in preparation for the interval show at our Christmas concert which is due to take place tomorrow! Some delightful surprises will be in store for our audience!

School Garden

The children were hard at work putting the finishing touches to our newly landscaped school garden which the Parents Association have been developing.

Our herb box includes lavender, bay, rosemary, lemon balm, camomile and strawberries. In our flower box, we have buxus pyramid, heather (winter) and assorted pansies. We also got the chance to plant some snowdrops and daffodils around our beautiful wooded area.

Thank you to the Parents Association for all their hard work on the project. We are looking forward to watching everything grow over the coming months and hopefully seeing the fruits of our labour in Springtime!

Rudolph Saves Christmas

The festive season is in full swing as we made a trip to see the musical Rudolph Saves Christmas in the Clayton Hotel Sligo today. Thanks to the Talisman Theatre Company for a wonderful production!

Sponsored Walk

We had a lovely stroll around Coolbock this afternoon for our Sponsored Walk organised by the Parents’ Association to raise funds for the school. Thank you to everyone who supported our event and gave generously to all the boys and girls who certainly earned every cent for their 4 mile walk – a fit bunch!

Exploring Biodiversity through Art

How well do you know your leaves? Just one of the things we got to learn about while making our Biodiversity books for day 1 of our ‘Exploring Biodiversity through Art’ Workshop with Karen Webster.

This project is funded by Sligo County Council through the Local Agenda-21- Environment Partnership Fund and aims to:
– make the term ‘biodiversity’ accessible to children and enable them to engage with it in a creative and relevant way.
– increase awareness and appreciation of the importance of biodiversity and encourage an understanding of how we can best support it.
– inspire an interest in and a love for the natural world, which will lead to a greater respect for biodiversity.

Science Week Show

Explosive exploits in Coolbock this week with our Super Science Show for Science Week Ireland! Don’t worry – the school is still standing! #BelieveInScience

Bialann Culbaic

YUM YUM!! Fáilte go “Bialann Culbaic”!

The senior pupils have been learning all about food in Irish and got a chance to design their own menus and set up restaurants and engage in role play “as Gaeilge”! The junior pupils were then invited in as customers and were served up some delightful dishes…and the tips were generous too!!
