Rudolph Saves Christmas

The festive season is in full swing as we made a trip to see the musical Rudolph Saves Christmas in the Clayton Hotel Sligo today. Thanks to the Talisman Theatre Company for a wonderful production!

Sponsored Walk

We had a lovely stroll around Coolbock this afternoon for our Sponsored Walk organised by the Parents’ Association to raise funds for the school. Thank you to everyone who supported our event and gave generously to all the boys and girls who certainly earned every cent for their 4 mile walk – a fit bunch!

Exploring Biodiversity through Art

How well do you know your leaves? Just one of the things we got to learn about while making our Biodiversity books for day 1 of our ‘Exploring Biodiversity through Art’ Workshop with Karen Webster.

This project is funded by Sligo County Council through the Local Agenda-21- Environment Partnership Fund and aims to:
– make the term ‘biodiversity’ accessible to children and enable them to engage with it in a creative and relevant way.
– increase awareness and appreciation of the importance of biodiversity and encourage an understanding of how we can best support it.
– inspire an interest in and a love for the natural world, which will lead to a greater respect for biodiversity.

Science Week Show

Explosive exploits in Coolbock this week with our Super Science Show for Science Week Ireland! Don’t worry – the school is still standing! #BelieveInScience

Bialann Culbaic

YUM YUM!! Fáilte go “Bialann Culbaic”!

The senior pupils have been learning all about food in Irish and got a chance to design their own menus and set up restaurants and engage in role play “as Gaeilge”! The junior pupils were then invited in as customers and were served up some delightful dishes…and the tips were generous too!!

Happy Halloween

Why have fun at one sport when you can “TRI” out three! Well done to our budding triathletes who swam, cycled and ran in the Primary Schools Try-a-Tri event organised by Sligo Sport and Recreation Partnership and Triathlon Ireland in Sligo Sportscomplex today. Thanks a million to Ross and Theresa and all their volunteer helpers who made this such a special event for the 400 children who took part!

Library Visit

The whole school had a lovely visit to Sligo Central Library on Friday last. We got a tour of the library and learned how all the books are arranged. The children then got a chance to renew their library cards and to choose some books to borrow. There were lots of happy faces going home with plenty of fun, interesting books to read! We had such a big haul of books home with us that I think the next time we will have to bring a trailer!

At the Post Office

The Junior Room are busy at work writing cards and letters, designing stamps, posting letters and working in a very busy post office as well as delivering the letters!! They are really enjoying the Post Office theme.

Indoor games on wet days

Making the most of indoor games on wet days! Do you remember these classic games from your schooldays?
